Michelle & Reygan

Our story began online.  The hours of scrolling through hundreds of potential Zoosk profiles in the hope of striking up a conversation with someone decent had arrived.  One evening in October, 2015 Reygan had been panning through his selected matches when he overshot a picture.  The photo piqued his interest, he scrolled back to see a lady in a white top, long brown hair and a beautiful smile.  He opened the profile to learn more.  He saw she lived in Texas and although disappointed by the distance this was not going to stop him from saying hello.

Reygan:  Hi, I just wanted you to know you are beautiful.

Michelle: Crickets…….. (Playing hard to want…)

Reygan, a couple days later.  “She must have seen I’m from California, she won’t respond.”

Michelle:  Two days later (thinking) - Hmm, this guy looks alright, he does live in California but he took the time to say hi, it’s only polite to let him know I got his message.  “Thanks for taking the time to review my profile. Your words are very kind."

It was these few words which began the daily online conversations via text. January 2016 Michelle was in London and had just returned from a work dinner.  She messaged Reygan to see if he was awake and when he responded, she surprised him by calling.  This initial phone conversation went for over an hour and we both recall laughing about the fact that we thought we may not understand each other with our accents. Numerous calls later, our friendship had blossomed, we had a lot in common, our bond was stronger and Reygan suggested meeting in Texas. 

 

March14th a shy and reserved Reygan arrived at the Austin airport.  Michelle watched this cap clad fella in jeans and a grey sweater descending down the escalator staring at his phone.  A warm feeling came over her as she realized this wonderful man she had been conversing with daily for five months had travelled across the country to spend time with her.   Reygan was very nervous and ran to the conveyor belt to get his bag Michelle chasing in toe and saying, it’s ok,  I don’t bite, well not hard.  This broke the ice and he began to relax while we waited for his bags.  We had the most wonderful time at SXSW.  We explored every part of Austin, listened to bands, went to various events, travelled to San Antonio, ate at the Oasis, climbed mount Bonnell and hiked the green belt.  This began a string of trips every two months back and forth between California and Texas.

The more time we spent together, the closer our bond.  Our friendship turned more about each other, our families, his beautiful daughter Emma and deeper conversations about what our future could look like together.  Half hour conversations melted into timeless two and three hour conversations where we solved the world’s problems and began to dream.   It’s this dreaming and our strong bond that brings us to this point in our journey.  

 

We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the beginning of our everything with you all.
